"I rule this world!" — Sol

Sol is a YLW Soldier Freak created by Jillian189. The twin brother of Mani, Sol is the god of the Sun and the protector of Earth.

His theme is Immortal by Thomas Bergersen.

Biography

Thousands of years ago, Sol and his twin brother Mani were born from the ultimate being, Eka, to serve as guardians for Eka's creations. Sol's duties are to raise the Sun to signal the arrival of daytime, and bring warmth and heat to both Freaks and humans.

Over time, Sol grew extremely disillusioned with humanity (Freaks included) after seeing how cruel, violent, and petty they are. At the same time, he began to feel neglected and taken for granted. He grew envious and resentful of Mani, whom he felt ignored him in favor for an ungrateful species, and took his anger out on the Moon god.

After learning that Mani adopted a pair of Scout twins as his children and turned them into demigods, Sol became so furious that he chased after his brother with the intent to punish. In response, Mani fled to shield his new family from Sol's wrath. This resulted in a vicious cycle of night and day as the Moon fled from the Sun.

The gods' schism caused them to neglect Earth, which in turn caused the Earth sentry, Gaia, to wake up. Driven insane by the hellish state of Earth, Gaia planned to recreate the universe anew, and establish herself as its ruler and protector goddess. Sol and Mani, realizing that their arguments were making them forget their duties, put aside their differences and confronted Gaia.

After a long and horrific battle, Sol defeated Gaia and, with Mani's help, sealed her within the Earth's core. The terrible experience of fighting his mad "sister" caused Sol to realize he let his own emotions destroy his relationship with Mani and nearly let Earth be destroyed. He apologized to Mani and reconciled with his twin, vowing to work together as a team in the future.

He is currently looking for ways to help restore Gaia's mind so he can make her see the error of her ways.

Appearance

Sol is a YLW Soldier who wears a Hero's Hachimaki, the Shaolin Sash, the Shogun's Shoulder Guard, and the Menpo, all colored Australium Gold to signify his connections to the Sun. He carries a Half-Zatoichi sword with him at all times.

Personality and Behavior

Sol often appears as a stoic and serious person, but in reality he is very hot-headed and gets angry at the smallest things. Sol tends to place extreme confidence in the immense power he possesses, to the point where he comes across as arrogant. He is also very emotional, often to the point of exaggerating his reactions.

One thing that Sol is infamous for is his ability to hold deep grudges. As the embodiment of rage, even minor offenses can make Sol distrust and/or hate someone for a very, very long time. Because of this, he can be very hard to please sometimes, especially when humankind (Freaks included) is concerned, since he believes that being evil and making mistakes are all they're good at.

Despite his often brutish personality, Sol is a lot more than people think. He cares a lot for Mani and he's very protective of him. He knows that his impulsiveness and fury tends to cause problems, and he secretly regretted driving Mani away with his anger, but his own pride often prevents him from openly admitting his mistakes.

Sol is a foil to Mani, his twin brother. Unlike Mani, he often acts impulsively, and believes that being a god allows him to do whatever he pleases. Due to his emotional instability, he often relies on Mani to calm him down. However, while they are very close, they tend to argue over whether both Freaks and humans deserve forgiveness and relief from their suffering. Sol especially believes that humanity (Freaks included) won't change their violent ways and feels that his brother's efforts will be in vain. 

Like many Soldiers, Sol has a devil-may-care attitude in battle and loves fighting. He generally favors people who can give him a good fight, but he also praises those who display a sense of honor on top of proficient martial skills. But due to his godly power, Sol is often forced to limit himself when he fights someone, much to his dismay. 

Powers and Abilities

• Heliokinesis -- Being the god of the Sun, Sol can manipulate all sources of heat, including energy from the Sun itself. Unlike Mani's power, who relies on the phases of the Moon, Sol's power knows no bounds because the Sun's energy is limitless.
  • Solar constructs -- Sol is able to create sentient beings out of solar energy. Because he isn't bound by power limitations, the possibilities are endless. All constructs have a sort of sensitivity to anything related to the water and the Moon, which shows in their fiery bodies becoming dimmer the closer they are to the source.
  • Solar barriers -- Sol can create protective force-fields out of solar energy with varying levels of durability. Again, Sol is not bound by limitations and his force-fields tend to be as strong, thick, and durable as he makes them.
